Stone Gables Bed and Breakfast | Leesburg, Virginia
A perfect weekend getaway in DC's wine country®
Stone Gables Bed and Breakfast, One of Virginia’s newest luxury small stays is a hidden gem that surely will not be kept secret for long. Situated in Loudoun County Virginia, just minutes from Downtown Leesburg, Stone Gables makes a perfect weekend getaway to DC’s wine country® . Truly a destination of its own, this B&B is one of the last remaining stone gabled barns in Loudoun County, renovated & re imagined into the enchanting home that it is today. Opened 1 year ago by husband and wife duo, Wayne and Leslie, this Virginia getaway has captured and created a new and unforgettable experience unlike any other.
Arriving at Stone Gables you are immediately struck by the vibrant fairytale like architecture set against the backdrop of the peaceful countryside. Inside, a blend of the stone frame which once stood, and the new modern/rustic design come together to create a unique feel and character. Each space with its own magical touch- the drapery in the living room, the tree bark accents, and earth inspired chandelier in the dining room, I could go on and on.
There are four rooms available at Stone Gables each with its own unique details and character while still applying the same overall rustic-chic feel. During our visit we had the pleasure of staying in the ‘Stone Gables Suite’. This large and luxurious space is truly the ultimate getaway sanctuary, photos truly cannot do justice to the magic that has been created in this suite design. The space boasts the homes original stone framed walls and tall wooden beam ceilings. Featuring a beautiful handcrafted chandelier, luxurious pillow top king bed, and a separate dressing/sitting area with antique couch and vanity to get ready. The en suite bathroom continues with ‘wow’ factors such a reclaimed wood door with a yoke handle, a flagstone floor and best of all …. a beautiful claw-foot tub. Room rates range from 225-250$ nightly.
There are so many ways to spend the day enjoying your stay at Stone Gables without even leaving the property. Amenities such as a seasonal swimming pool, fire-pits, outdoor terrace seating, and even a game nook upstairs to break out a board game are a few examples among the many to enjoy your getaway.
Word to the wise, don’t forget to bring your appetite in the morning because Wayne’s homemade breakfast spread is truly a breakfast made for champions. Unlike other B&Bs where you typically only have one option for breakfast, Stone Gables provides a select menu of made to order options. Each morning started off with fresh coffee, an assortment of homemade pumpkin donuts, biscuits, or Leslie’s infamous “Cinnabunz” followed by a delicious fruit parfait with homemade granola. One of our favorites breakfast dishes we had during our stay was the fluffy pumpkin pancakes with maple pecan butter, they were DELICIOUS! Breakfast was absolutely a highlight at Stone Gables and will leave you fueled up for any adventure you’re about to take on for the day. It was*chef’s kiss* perfection.
During our stay, we were highly impressed with the safety and cleaning precautions taken at Stone Gables to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for guests. Measures included increased sanitation of general spaces, mask policies for indoor spaces, hand sanitizer stations, and private breakfast seating. Having just 4 guest suites and a large space for guests to spread out and enjoy safely, you are sure to have peace of mind during your stay at Stone Gables. What to do & see
Explore DC Wine Country:
Loudoun County has over 40 award-winning wineries, 30+ craft breweries, and a handful of cideries and distilleries to choose from. During our stay, we visited Zephaniah Farm Vineyard, located just a five-minute drive from Stone Gables. This small family-owned winery is as welcoming and authentic as it gets. The beautiful property has acres and acres of vines and is the perfect place to spread out for a picnic and enjoy a wine tasting. Owners Bill and Bonnie have gone above and beyond to ensure that guests are safe during their visit implementing all of the recommended covid safety precautions with love and care. Be sure to spend some time chatting with them during your visit as they are TRULY the warmest and most wonderful people you could ever wish to meet.
Zephaniah Farm dates to their family since the 1950s and has an incredibly interesting history to it, (I will leave that story for them to share with you). This winery breaks the mold with its refined wines and intimate experience – I highly recommend visiting. Reservations required, check out their website for more information!
Other great wineries to check out nearby Stone Gables: Willow Croft Wine, Stone Tower Winery, Quattro Goombas, & Casanel Vineyards. For more about DC wine country check out the Visit Loudoun official website here.
