Exploring Florida's Paradise Coast: Weekend Getaway Guide

If you’re looking for a fun and sunny weekend getaway, look no further than Florida’s Paradise Coast! Located along the Gulf of Mexico, this region spans from Naples to Marco Island, and offers stunning beaches, luxury stays and plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. With its vibrant culture and diverse landscape, it’s no wonder why Florida’s Paradise Coast is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. Whether you’re looking for an adventure-filled trip or a tranquil escape, this destination has something to offer for everyone.

Arriving:

The closest airport to Florida’s Paradise Coast is RSW, also known as Southwest Florida International Airport. While there are shuttle services available to different spots along the Paradise Coast, renting a car is highly recommended to fully explore and enjoy the region. The drive from the airport to where stayed during our visit on Marco Island was just over an hour and it was great to have the rental car during our stay for exploring the entire coast!

Stay:

There are plenty of beautiful hotels and resorts to choose from when booking your stay on the Paradise Coast. During our visit we decided to go with the Hilton Marco Island Resort and Spa. This laid back resort offers a family-friendly atmosphere with plenty of modern amenities to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.

The guest suites have recently undergone a renovation in 2018, so you can expect a modern and fresh look, with plenty of luxury touches to enjoy. On-property, you’ll find a wide variety of amenities, including a swimming pool, an onsite restaurant and bar, and a full-service spa. Also included in a stay at the resort is use of one beach umbrella and two lounge chairs to enjoy each day during your stay. Overall this resort is a great value offer and is a budget-friendly choice that won’t break the bank.

Explore:

Downtown Naples

There’s no better place to start when visiting Downtown Naples than Third Street South. This charming street is lined with boutique shops, art galleries, and sidewalk cafes, perfect for a leisurely stroll and some retail therapy. For dinner, head over to Barbatella, a popular Italian restaurant that offers an authentic dining experience with its rustic decor and delicious food. Indulge in their homemade pasta dishes and delectable desserts while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of downtown Naples. With its rich history and lively ambiance, exploring downtown Naples is a quintessential part of any Paradise Coast travel experience.

Discover Marco Island’s Mangroves:

One of the best ways to experience Florida’s natural beauty is by getting out and exploring its beautiful mangroves. During our trip, we decided to take a ‘Mangrove Tunnels & Mudflats Kayak Tour’ with Rising Tides. This eco-tour company provides a unique and immersive experience as you paddle through narrow waterways and get up close and personal with the mangrove forest ecosystem. Not only will you witness the stunning mangroves from the inside and out but you’ll also learn about the importance of conservation efforts to protect this delicate ecosystem. This is a must-do for any nature lover!

Explore Tigertail Beach Park:

Tigertail Beach Park is a must add to your itinerary for a unique beach day experience. With its pristine white sands and crystal-clear waters, it’s the perfect spot for a relaxing beach day. The highlight of this beach is its stunning lagoon, where you can swim and enjoy the calm waters. If you prefer a more adventurous beach experience, head to the outer beach, which offers bigger waves for surfing and bodyboarding. In addition to swimming and sunbathing, Tigertail Beach Park is a paradise for birdwatching and wildlife enthusiasts.

Indulge in a Spa Day:

No matter where I travel I always try to pack a spa day into my itinerary when possible! The Spa at the Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort is a full-service spa retreat perfect for those looking to indulge in some relaxation and rejuvenation during their Paradise Coast Getaway. This was especially convenient for us since we were staying at the resort and made for a perfect way to spend an afternoon. With 10 private treatment rooms, a relaxation room with massage chairs, and an outdoor whirlpool the spa has everything you need to unwind and pamper yourself for the day. Guests can choose from an extensive treatment menu, including massages, facials, body wraps, and mani-pedis.

Take a Sunset Champagne Cruise:

One of the highlights of our weekend getaway to Florida’s Paradise Coast was a Sunset Champagne Cruise with Cool Beans Cruises. This approximately 2-hour long sailing experience allowed us to take in the breathtaking sunset views from the water. As we sailed along the coast, we were treated to complimentary soda, water, beer, and chardonnay. But the cherry on top was the complimentary glass of champagne as the sun began to set. The cost for this unforgettable experience is $75 per guest. It was truly the perfect way to end a day of exploring and relaxation.

Dine:

The Oyster Society:

Dining options are plentiful on Florida’s Paradise Coast, but one of the best standout spots from our visit was The Oyster Society restaurant in Marco Island. Known for their fresh seafood and extensive oyster selection, The Oyster Society offers a unique dining experience with a cool and sophisticated atmosphere. Top menu recommendations from our dinner here include the pork belly bao buns, any of the sushi offerings, and of course, most importantly – the oysters!

Smith House Restaurant and Tavern:

The Smith House is a must try brunch spot located on the northern tip of Marco Island, in a charming set of shops called The Collection at Olde Marco. I ordered the french toast with nutella and strawberries and it was absolutely divine. Highly recommend stopping in for breakfast and then spending some time exploring the shops once you’ve finished!
